    Standard approaches to calcite mitigation rely on chemicals, which must be replenished frequently, reverse ossmosis or ultra-fine-membrane filtering, which uses large amounts of water and energy. Researchers assessing catalyst-based non-chemical water treatment (NCWT) at the Frank E.
